What can the NBN do for me?

The NBN has the potential to transform many aspects of our lives including internet and telephone services in areas such as education, business, entertainment and access to online health services. Existing ADSL2 services range in speed from 1.5 Mbps to 24 Mbps. The further you are away from the exchange and the poorer (sometimes the older) the copper telephone lines the slower the speed you get from your internet. For example if you are about 4 Km from the exchange your speed will only be about 2 Mbps. The NBN has the potential to hit ultimately 1000 Mbps, and starts at 12 Mbps down and 1 Mbps up. So there are enormous advantages in it’s use.

When Can I get it?

Visit the NBN website here to check your availability

Business owners please note: In general if you are in a multi unit premises (Or your premises has been a multi unit premises in previous years – i.e. more than one company resided at your premises during it’s history) then you will need to fill out a special form to get your NBN approved. The form needs to be filled out by the property owner and can be found here. Please fill it out URGENTLY as it will then take several months for the NBN to be installed at your premises. If you’re a business in a multi dwelling, please click here to open the MDU application for the NBN.
